The first thing that ever stood between this party and where they were going.

Klarg ran the Cragmaw Hideout — a cave of goblins, wolves, and stolen supply crates — and held Sildar Hallwinter prisoner after the ambush on the road that took Gundren Rockseeker.

How he fell

The party never had to find him on their own. The goblins in the cave were unhappy enough with their chief to make an offer: kill Klarg, and Sildar would be handed over.

The deal was accepted. Klarg died to it.

What he was sitting on

• Sildar Hallwinter, alive
• Krunk, held captive in the same cave, who joined the party on his release
• Crates marked as property of Phandalin

Worth remembering

Klarg was never the one giving orders. The chain ran from him to the goblins, from the goblins to the ambush, and from the ambush to the Black Spider — who wanted Gundren for what he knew about Wave Echo Cave.
