Bellhollow

A sunken village on stilts and boardwalks, built where the old road gave up and the water took over. The bells that named it hang at every crossing — not for worship, but so you can find your way back when the fog comes down.

The Mire

Bellhollow measures how far the water has come up, and how much of the boardwalk is still walkable. When the mire rises, paths close, houses cut off, and people start deciding whose stretch of walkway gets repaired first.

Level What it means
[Low]{.pill .warm} Normal. Every boardwalk passable.
[Rising]{.pill .warm} Outer stilts flooded. Poling required after dark.
[Drowned]{.pill .dead} Only the Bell House stays above water.

Districts

  • The Bell House — civic building, meeting hall, and the last dry room if things go badly.
  • The Pilings — the oldest stilt-houses, sunk deepest, held up mostly by habit.
  • The Reedwalk — outer housing along the boardwalk, first to flood.
