Diamabel¶
Active · Lord of a Domain of Dread
| Revealed | Session 6, by Urmon |
| Appeared to Urmon as | An angel |
| Wants | To reach the Forgotten Realms |
| Method | The Forge of Spells, as a conduit between worlds |
He does not want to destroy anything. He wants to make it clean.
What he wants¶
Diamabel's goal is to render everything pure and sterile, and to remove all decay. Not conquest. Correction.
Phandalin is what that looks like in practice. Every building white. Every person pale. Children playing in exact, silent, robotic motions. Daran Edermath picking perfectly spherical apples in his orchard. And Glasstaff in the town jail, scratching unclean into his arms because some part of him can still tell.
The angel¶
Hundreds of years ago he came to Urmon the Architect in a vision, wearing the shape of an angel, carrying plans for a forge that could create magic items.
He asked for nothing in return.
No strings attached
That was the offer. No price, no bargain, nothing owed.
Mormesk refused to believe it, and spent his life and his afterlife trying to stop what came of it. He was right, and it cost him both.
The Forge was never a gift. It was always intended as the catalyst for a conduit between worlds — the door through which Diamabel would reach Faerûn.
Urmon died before finishing it. The plan stalled for centuries.
Then the party lit it.
The three anchors¶
Urmon spent his imprisonment finding a way to undo it, and found three.
What has to be done
Diamabel holds this place together with three planar anchors, one behind each of the three mirrors in Urmon's temple. Each is guarded by some strong force.
Destroy all three and the bond between Phandalin and the Domain of Dread breaks.
| Realm | Status |
|---|---|
| Bellhollow | In progress |
| Emberdale | Unvisited |
| Fetchford | Unvisited |
Correction¶
He does it to people, not just places.
The Pale Bullywug sang in the Frog Choir before Diamabel corrected him. What was taken was his voice — and, the choir implies, his name.
The choir will sing for him until he can sing back.
Worth remembering¶
Nobody has fought him. Nobody has seen him. Everything the party knows about Diamabel comes secondhand, from a man he imprisoned, who is asking for their help.
