Session 1 & 2 — The Intro

Summary

The story began as the players met with their mentor Gundren Rockseeker in a Neverwinter inn. Gundren had an adventure to offer, but first, put the heroes through their paces with a few tests. They sweet talked the barmaid for a beer, won a dice game against some other bar patrons and even broke up a bar fight. Afterwards Gundren gave them the details. He had a business venture in the nearby mining town of Phandalin a days ride south. Gundren was heading there early with his hired guard Sildar Hallwinter. The party just needed to escort his wagon of supplies and meet him there the next day.

The party set out and all seemed normal until they discovered the site of an ambush. As they investigated, they found themselves the victims of a goblin ambush themselves. After quickly dispatching the goblins, they discovered that Gundren must have been taken captive and dragged into the forest. As they followed the trail, Gundren's horses were used as sacrifical lambs for any traps and it turns out it was a good call. One of the horses was caught in a trap and perished. The party quickly butchered it, and started on making some horse jerky.

The trail led them to a cave entrance where they fought some goblins outside. Once, inside a room full of wolves was found, but using animal handling and some horse jerky, they became docile. Further in the cave a room was discovered with Sildar held captive, Arthas Niko and Gerald fought the goblins valiantly, but after nearly being defeated, were offered a deal. Kill Klarg the leader of the cave and Sildar will be turned over. Without any other choice the deal was accepted. As they adventured further they discovered Krunk the Ass Slammer held captive as well. He was rescued and quickly became part of the team. Finally a confrontation with Klarg was near. Putting all their skills to use such as Arthas' Witch Bolt, they quickly won the battle. Sildar was rescued and they found a bunch of boxes labeled "Property of Phandalin". Going there seemed like the logical next step.

What changed

• Krunk the Ass Slammer was gained as a party member.
• Sildar was rescued, but no sign of Gundren.

• Find out who kidnapped Gundren Rockseeker.
• Go to Phandalin for clues.
