A Dungeons & Dragons Campaign

The Lost Realms of Mt. Prospect

An Archive of Adventures in the Forgotten Realms of Mt. Prospect

A homebrew campaign of heroes, villains, and strange lands — where the familiar world suddenly feels a little further from home.

How we got here

It started as a job. Escort a dwarf's supply wagon to Phandalin, collect a fee, go home.

Gundren Rockseeker never made it. He was ambushed on the road and carried off by the Black Spider, a drow wizard hunting the old magic buried under Wave Echo Cave.

Getting him back took the party through a goblin hideout, a town full of extortionists, a dragon's tower, and finally into the mine itself — where they found the Forge of Spells, a machine that makes magic weapons and armor.

Two people warned them not to light it.

They lit it anyway

A cold wind went through the cave. Every torch went dim.

The party walked out into fog that had closed every road but one, and followed it back to a Phandalin turned white — buildings, people, everything. Children playing without a sound. Apples growing in perfect spheres.

They had finished a job started three hundred years ago by Diamabel, a Lord of a Domain of Dread, who wants the world made clean, sterile, and free of decay — and who needed the Forge as his door into it.

The way back

At the edge of the corrected town stands a temple with an old man inside it. Urmon the Architect built the Forge, and has been imprisoned for it ever since.

He knows one way to undo this: three planar anchors, one behind each of the three mirrors in his temple. Break all three and the bond between Phandalin and the Domain of Dread breaks with them.

They went into the first mirror and came out in a swamp.

Bellhollow was choking on a poison fog that never lifted, and losing people to kidnappings nobody could stop. Both had the same cause: Auntie Bloat, who kept captives alive on thunder roots and distilled what came out of them into the fog itself.

The party burned her supply convoy, sealed her valve, took the Saint's Splinter out of a fallen paladin's vault, and let themselves into her lair through the drainage pipe.

They freed sixteen people, killed her, and broke the first anchor.

Two of something

Lodged in the anchor itself was the Crooked Molar — the tooth Vashkultha had already paid them to recover.

Pulled free, it began resonating with the Saint's Splinter.

That is two pieces of something nobody has named yet, and the party has talked a dragon into letting them keep one of them a while longer.

The current arc: Emberdale

Two more portals opened while the party was in the swamp. One showed a farming town — Fetchford, idyllic, and waiting. The other showed a town beneath a volcano.

They chose the volcano.

It felt warm going through. It was not warm on the other side.

Snowflakes fall in symmetrical patterns — the same geometry the party last saw in a Phandalin turned white.

A path leads up the volcano, lined with lanterns.

Halfway up, the lanterns stop being lit.

A mountain of fire, freezing. Diamabel got here first.
