He sits in the swamp, covered head to foot in leeches, and he is perfectly pleasant about it.

He offered the party the chance to experience the leeches for themselves. After a certain amount of hesitation, they reluctantly agreed.

It worked

The leeches drew out some of the swamp's ill effects and left the party with temporary hit points.

He also gave them advice on navigating the mire.

Worth remembering

He asked for nothing and the offer was exactly what it appeared to be — which, in this swamp, makes him the strangest thing the party has met.
